Bees in the flowerbed usually seem quite industrious,
but yesterday, in the heat of the late afternoon,
this bumblebee was napping on top of the butterfly milkweed,
as if intoxicated by the nectar.
He snoozed there for a few minutes, then gave himself a little shake,
lifted off and flew away.
Bon Voyage!

The moral of the story: even bees can experience too much of a good thing!
Connie, your eyes are perhaps your best tools. Who else would have seen that sleeping bee?

Lovely macro and a great summer picture.
Oh I never heard it called Butterfly Milkweed before. We always just called it Butterfly Weed and my sister used to transplant these from farm fields into her garden, and their roots ran deep, I remember, What a lovely capture you got~
Hi there - that’s a good shot of the bee and I love the image of the fleeing deer in the rain.
I been away from a while, hence the slow reply!
