Caper

Squirrel on Bird Feeder

This one was pulled off in broad daylight.
One of our resident red squirrels had his head inside the bird feeder when we first saw him.

He had gone to a lot of trouble to pull off this larceny.
He climbed a 12 foot "squirrel-proof" pole,
negotiated two "squirrel-proof" baffles,
twisted off a "squirrel-proof" lid,
and helped himself to a treasure trove of sunflower seeds.

Ever watch a caper movie and find your self rooting for the thief?
We watched this creature with a certain grudging admiration
while he cleaned out the vault and dismounted.

Now there's one more obstacle on the feeder lid,
and we'd like to think that's the end of the story.

What are the chances?

Ok, there's not a bird here,
but I'm hoping a bird cage qualifies me
to link with Wild Bird Wednesday.

Also linking with Saturday's Critters

He was determined that is for sure...The first thing I thought about was what would happen if I was as determined about my relationship with Christ as this squirrel was to get the sunflower seeds.....A thought for me to ponder today.....

LMAO! That's hilarious! I'm convinced there's no such thing as "squirrel proof".

This is so funny and well-captured!
I have already heard from friends the crazy antics squirrels get up to around their bird feeders!

Well good grief, that one was determined, wasn't he? I can't have feeders because of cowbirds (they pig out like..well...pigs.) I haven't ever had to wrestle with a squirrel, but I know they are sneaky little dudes.

If they want it, they'll get it, although I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this little one, Connie. I LOVE it!!!!

hahaha.....scary sometimes
to think that maybe they're more
resourceful
than the humans who try so hard
not to feed them:)
I once saw a squirrel chasing my neighbor's cat.
Amazing and funny pics, Connie...thanks!

A great story, Connie - and well illustrated ! Yes, I can certainly cheer for the 'underdog' here - what persistence and creativity to overcome all those obstacles !

Wow. How did he not get stuck in the tube? That is amazing.

Quite funny, and here in the UK we had been led to believe that all Americans had guns'-).
All the best Gordon.
