Whispers of Spring

After basking in the glow of the fireplace,
winter has kicked off its slippers and cracked open the window to spring.
The ancient yellow daffodils are up a good 5 inches and there's new fuzz on the lamb's ears.

A few of the lilac buds have swollen and burst.
Inside their small purple packages, along with their bottled-up fragrance, is the promise of beauty and nectar.

From the pond, we hear spring peepers singing, and late at night, under the stars, coyotes join the chorus with their love songs.

Barley takes note, and is happy to curl up safe inside for the night.

Autumn arrives in the early morning,

but spring at the close of a winter day.

Linking with Saturday's Critters

I hadn't thought about it being love songs I'm hearing at night -- somehow, that makes it easier to be awakened. Since yesterday I have five opened daffodils -- the earliest I can remember here in the Ozarks. And just this evening we heard the first peepers of the season, a sure sign that spring it imminent. Isn't it sweet to savor the anticipation of all that is to come???

What glorious signs of spring! There's hope for us farther north too, then. :-) Barley looks comfy and unimpressed. :-) Have a nice weekend. - Judy

Barley looks comfy! It is bursting here also, but I am cautious to hope it may be spring. Winter was very mild this time around.

Barley is beautiful! I noticed some green leaf tips of the irises are peeking through!

I love your tribute to Spring,
as well as the beautiful journey back to your old climbing tree
in the more recent post:) You paint with words
and I can see and feel it all.
I always feel as if I'm dropping by to visit
a gentle friend when I come here.
Thanks for making such a wonderful resting place,
