Hopeful

One small hyacinth is blooming in our yard.

Barley's not the only one who hopes that means Spring is on the way.

New Palette

After winter's barren palette, dabs of color dot the countryside.

 Magnolia unfurls layers of color with each opening leaf...

hyacinths split the ground and bubble up like purple lava,

and St. Patrick's color returns.

With each new leaf and blossom, beauty is restored to the landscape.

But for me, beauty is not an end in itself;

it always points to its Maker,

the One who leads me by still waters,

Who restores my soul.

And I whisper my thanks.

Three days 'til Spring

Tiny grape hyacinth are just pushing their way up from the ground, and I went out before lunch, Barley in tow, to take a few pictures.

Apparently, Barley didn't like the background, because he gently put his paw down behind it for a different look.

Then, a whiff... Hmmm, not bad...

but the smell of sausage from the kitchen...
that is ecstasy!
