Morning Surprise

We don't always get what we are looking for.

It's early, and the chance of a good sunrise compels me to load up the car
and drive to the west side of the lake.
Barley is eager to ride along in hopes of a morning swim.

At the lake, I lift the hatch and unload my tripod.
Barley races to the water's edge and looks back over his shoulder,
dancing in place until I throw a stick for him to retrieve.

It's a good arrangement; he gets a few retrieves,
and I get a few pictures.
The sunrise is a pretty one, but it won't make the year's top 10.

Scattered raindrops spit from the sky and I figure the shooting session is over.
Turning to go, I stop dead in my tracks.
The bright ribbon stretching across the sky holds me there, gasping in wonder.

We don't always get what we are hoping for.
Sometimes we get more.

God's glory is on tour in the skies,

God-craft on exhibit across the horizon.

Psalm 19:1

Boah, wonderful photos. The first photo has warm and lovely colors. The shadow of your dog is beautiful. The second photo is gorgeous. Amazing colors.
Have a nice weekend.

SHARP INTAKE OF BREATH
when I rolled down on your page.
That was indeed a deserved reward for your getting up so early. We suffer for our art, but in this case it paid off in trumps. Well done, with Whoever is on your side.

Wow, that would be an unexpected and glorious surprise - what a fantastic photo! We never get morning rainbows here, ours are in the summer evenings after our typical afternoon thunderstorms have moved off to the east.

Your blog is a treasure trove of beautiful photos and words. I just noticed late today that you have published a book through Blurb. Your book looks sensational.

Just this last weekend visiting family were telling me of Blurb and how one of their adult daughters had published a couple of photographic books through Blurb. Wonderful idea for your work. Zazzle looks great too.

Oh wow. Well done on your second shot- how wonderful that that happened at the end, must have been a thrill for you, just as it is to view it. And I love the mood and emotion in your first shot also.
